Local craft meets design

Ratskeller – Cercle-Cité Luxembourg

The work of twelve designers is presented by Cercle Cité and In progress a.s.b.l. in partnership for the 4th Design City Luxembourg. Following a call for projects, the fruit of the research carried out by a selection of designers is exhibited in the Ratskeller. The designers accepted the challenge to produce the prototype of a ‘finished product’. Working on real issues providing real solutions, this exhibition is an opportunity for these young creatives to develop a personal project and thus launch a discussion on their creative methods and expertises.

The work of twelve designers is presented by Cercle Cité and In progress a.s.b.l. in partnership for the 4th Design City Luxembourg. Each one of them has a connection with Luxembourg and intends to involve local craft and design for the Local Craft Meets Design exhibition. Following a call for projects, the fruit of the research carried out by a selection of designers is exhibited in the Ratskeller space in the Cercle Cité. In a matter of months, the designers accepted the challenge to produce the prototype of a ‘finished product’. They work on real issues providing real solutions. This exhibition is an opportunity for these young creative people to develop a personal project for which they discuss their creative methods and expertise with local businesses. The exhibition also launches a new function of the In progress website: a meeting and exchange platform for designers and craftsmen. Augmented reality (AR) makes the catalogue for this exhibition unique, as designers can push the boundaries of the directorial style of their projects. Tomas Kamarauskas has specifically developed this application allowing you to discover information hidden in the exhibition layout and on paper. This technology guides the public during their exhibition visit and in their appreciation of the projects exhibited.
